The San Francisco Giants Won The World Series But No One Cares.

The San Francisco Giants Won The World Series But No One Cares
In a time where baseball continues to carry the same rules that “purists” revere as sacred (we call draconian) we go the other way. Why are these games so lengthy? Why is this type of entertainment even called a sport? Not everyone that plays fits the athletic mold-type (ie: Prince Fielder, Two of the three Molina brothers, etc).

Congratulations to the Giants, they’ve won the world series after a 50 year (and change) drought…Now let’s continue to focus on sports that matter, like College and Pro Football, hey! Even the NBA for all we care. Last night Bud Selig lost yet another wager against the super rating power juggernaut that is the NFL. This WS was one of the least popular rating-wise according to the USA TODAY, we can’t say we are surprised as we believed in good faith that the damn thing was over on Sunday. The fact that the fall classic had an earlier starting time(earliest in almost 2 decades) might have salvaged some of its interest, at least on the East Coast (where older demographics still alive and hardcore followers dwell) regardless that there was no team representation in this area The West Coast was sort of a given because of Frisco.
Overall on all the “Neutral” states that didn’t have a dog in this fight most of all households were focused on a Divisional matchup AFCs Texans vs Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Texans were never closer than 10 points apart however, viewers would rather see the bottom line scoring update tool from ESPN than flip channels to FOX and see the win or “stay at home” game for the Rangers.

In order for baseball to rekindle some of its luster or make a comeback on the new generations to come we have some” progressive” (somewhat BOLD) suggestions:

•Make the games shorter by either having a clock regulation of some sort or reduce the number of innings played from 9 to 5.
•Reduce the 162 games to something like 80 and have a spring and a winter league, going forward you could decide if to have a playoff between the winners of each league.
•Abolish base stealing on teams that lead a game by 4 or more runs.
•Intentional base on balls should be requested and not thrown.

Although we are certain that baseball will continue to be what it is (an old man’s sport) always reminiscing of the glory days and past eras of greatness, everything pretty much reduces to stats and records, which really aren’t that much of a big deal in the end.

Just give me the bottom of the 9th inning with a perfect game and two outs I’ll glue my eyes to the screen rooting for the No Hitter Perfect Game.
